Skin is our largest organ and we believe you should protect it fiercely. Many brands claim they are “clean” because the word isn’t regulated by the FDA. We spent two years researching and testing formulas, to bring a clear and simple meaning to clean skincare. Here are the ingredients you will NEVER find in REVY products – no way, nada, nope:
Typically found in personal care products such as deodorants and anti sweat control products. Known to be irritating on skin.
Other names: Aluminum Chloride, Aluminum Chlorohydrate, Aluminum Hydroxybromide.
REVY® does not use any animal-derived ingredients or animal by products.
Other names: Cochineal Dye, Guanine, Tallow, Gelatin, Lanolin, Squalene, Ambergris, Collagen.
Butylated Hydroxyanisole (BHA) Butylated Hydroxytoleune (BHT). These synthetic antioxidants are used as preservatives and can be found in moisturizers, lipsticks, and other personal care products. Both BHA and BTA are associated with skin irritation. BHA is also know to cause cancer and hormone disruption.
Other names: BOA, Tert-Butyl-4-Hydroxyanisole, (1,1-Dimethylethyl)-4-Methoxyphenol, Tert-Butyl-4-Methoxyphenol, Antioxyne B.
Ammonia compounds used as foaming agents in cosmetics. Found in body washes, soaps, shampoos, facial cleansers, bubble baths, makeup, shaving products, and sunscreen. Linked to an increase risk of cancer.
Other names: MEA, DEA, & TEA,” abbreviations for monoethanolamine, diethanolamine, triethanolamine.
Found in deodorants, shampoos, nail polish, shaving creams, and soap. Linked to causing respiratory irrigation and immune system toxicity.
Look out for Formaldehyde releasers such as: DMDM Hydantoin, Diaxzolidinyl Urea, Imidazolidinyl Urea, Methanamine, Quaternium-15 and Sodium hHydroxymethylglycincate. May also appear as Cormalin, Formicaldehyde, Methanol, Methyl aldehyde.
Hydroquinone is used in many skincare products to lighten areas of darkness, including age spots, dark spots, and freckles. Hydroquinone may cause cancer and can been linked to ochronosis, skin disfiguration and darkening.
Other names: 1, 4-Benzenediol, Quinol, Benzene-1, 4-Diol, p-Diphenol, p-Dihydroxyl benzene, p-Hydroxylphenol.
A preservative in many pharmaceutical and cosmetic products such as conditioner, shampoo, moisturizer, and deodorant. Known to cause skin irritation, hormone disruption, rosacea (on individuals with paraben allergies/sensitivity) and contact dermatitis.
Other Names: Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Butylparaben, Propylparaben Isobutylparaben, Isopropylparaben, Benzylparaben
A product strengthener used to increases plastic strength and flexibility. Found in personal care products and nail polish. It also tends to be found in products with fragrances. Many Phthalates have been suspected to cause hormone disruption.
Other Names: Bensybutyl Phthalate (BzBP), Bi-n-butyl Phthalate or Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP) DEP DEHP, fragrance.
A softener typically found in facial creams and moisturizers. Used to speed product dry down time and improve product glide. Studies suggest it is a reproductive toxicant and endocrine disrupter. Harmful to wildlife and fish.
Other Names: Polysiloxanes, Cylomethicone, ingredients ending in siloxane.
Perfume(s) used in many cosmetic, hair and personal care products. Perfumes can contain up to 300 different chemicals that have not been properly tested. Many perfumes have been linked with allegories, respiratory conditions, and dermatitis.
